The ingredients behind the energy
From ATP to Zinc
The ten actives that help Derma Energy renew, balance, defend and hydrate the skin.
Skincare trends come and go. Every year brings a new miracle ingredient, a new essential routine and another reason to replace everything already sitting in your bathroom.
At Derma Energy, we prefer to focus on ingredients with purpose.
We formulate with established vitamins, minerals, hydrators, exfoliants, antioxidants and calming actives that support the skin in different but interconnected ways. Some encourage renewal. Others restore hydration, reinforce the barrier, improve visible tone or help settle reactive skin.
Together, they create a more complete approach to skin health. From ATP to Zinc, these are ten of the actives that define Derma Energy.
ATP
The energy behind Derma Energy
Adenosine Triphosphate, better known as ATP, is the molecule cells use to transfer and utilise energy. Cellular activity requires energy, including the processes involved in skin renewal and maintenance.
ATP represents the philosophy at the heart of Derma Energy. Skin should be supported, not relentlessly attacked. We combine ATP with complementary vitamins, minerals, hydrators and antioxidants to help skin look energised, resilient and healthy.
ATP is not merely another fashionable ingredient in our formulations. It is where the Derma Energy story begins.
Best known for: Energising, revitalising and supporting healthy looking skin.
AHA
Intelligent exfoliation
Alpha Hydroxy Acids, commonly known as AHAs, are water soluble acids that help loosen the bonds holding dull, redundant cells to the surface of the skin.
Ingredients such as lactic, glycolic and mandelic acid can improve the appearance of rough texture, congestion, uneven tone and lacklustre skin. By removing dull surface cells, AHAs can help the skin reflect light more evenly, creating a fresher and more luminous appearance.
More acid does not automatically create better results. Effectiveness depends on the type of acid, its concentration, the formula pH and how frequently it is used. Our approach is controlled renewal, with smoother and brighter skin as the objective.
Best known for: Exfoliating, resurfacing, refining and brightening.
Vitamin C
The great defender
Vitamin C is one of the most respected antioxidants in skincare. Daily exposure to ultraviolet light, pollution and other environmental stressors contributes to oxidative activity. Antioxidants help defend against this activity, making Vitamin C an important part of a complete morning routine.
Vitamin C can also improve the appearance of dullness and uneven pigmentation while supporting a firmer and more radiant complexion.
Different forms of Vitamin C offer different advantages in stability, skin feel and compatibility. Sophisticated formulation is about choosing the right forms and placing them within a complete formula that supports their performance.
Best known for: Antioxidant defence, brightening and supporting visible firmness.
Hyaluronic Acid
More than surface hydration
Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring substance with an exceptional ability to bind water. Applied topically, it helps increase hydration and create a smoother, plumper and more supple appearance.
Not all Hyaluronic Acid behaves identically. Different molecular sizes interact with the surface of the skin in different ways. Larger molecules provide immediate surface hydration, while smaller forms can support hydration within the upper layers of the skin.
Well hydrated skin feels more comfortable, reflects light more evenly and is better prepared for a thoughtfully designed active routine.
Best known for: Hydration, plumping and improving skin comfort.
Niacinamide
The great multitasker
Niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3, is one of the most versatile ingredients available to cosmetic formulators.
It helps support the skin barrier, improve moisture retention, refine the appearance of pores and promote a more even looking complexion. It can also help balance the visible effects of excess oil while remaining suitable for skin experiencing dryness or sensitivity.
Niacinamide is a consistent and dependable active that supports the overall appearance and behaviour of the skin over time.
Best known for: Barrier support, balancing, brightening and refining visible pores.
Peptides
Precision messengers
Peptides are short chains of amino acids, which are components used to build proteins within the body.
In skincare, different peptides are selected for different cosmetic purposes. Some support a firmer and smoother appearance. Others help improve hydration, comfort or the visible signs associated with ageing and environmental stress.
Peptides are an expansive family of specialised actives, rather than one ingredient with one function. Selecting the right peptide for the right formula is therefore essential.
Best known for: Supporting visible firmness, smoothness, hydration and resilience.
Retinol
The gold standard in renewal
Few cosmetic ingredients have earned the reputation of Retinol. As a derivative of Vitamin A, Retinol supports the natural renewal process and can improve the appearance of fine lines, uneven texture, congestion, pigmentation and loss of firmness.
Its strength demands respect. Increasing the concentration too quickly, or combining Retinol with too many exfoliating products, can overwhelm the skin. Dryness, flaking and redness are not the objective.
A successful Vitamin A routine is introduced gradually, supported with adequate hydration and adjusted according to the response of the skin. Retinol is powerful, but intelligent use is what transforms power into progress.
Best known for: Renewal, refining texture and improving visible signs of ageing.
Rumex
Targeted botanical brightening
Rumex is a botanical extract derived from plants belonging to the Rumex genus. In skincare, it is valued for helping improve the appearance of uneven pigmentation and discolouration.
Its brightening activity makes it particularly useful in formulas created for dull, sun affected or uneven looking skin.
The objective is not to change the natural identity of the skin. It is to encourage a clearer, more uniform and luminous appearance. Rumex works beautifully within a broader brightening strategy alongside Vitamin C, antioxidants and daily sun protection.
Best known for: Brightening and improving the appearance of uneven pigmentation.
Tazman Pepper Berry
Australian calm for reactive skin
Tazman Pepper Berry is an Australian botanical obtained from Tasmannia lanceolata, a plant native to the cool forests of Tasmania.
It is used in skincare to help reduce the appearance of redness and support comfort in sensitive or reactive skin. This makes it especially valuable in products intended for skin that flushes easily, or in formulas containing potent actives.
It represents an important part of the Derma Energy philosophy. Results are not only about stimulating change. They are also about maintaining balance. When skin feels overwhelmed, sometimes the most intelligent intervention is to calm the conversation.
Best known for: Soothing, comforting and reducing the appearance of redness.
Zinc
Mineral defence and balance
Zinc is an essential mineral with a long and important history in skincare.
Different forms of Zinc can perform different functions. Within treatment formulas, Zinc can help support balanced, calm and healthy looking skin. In mineral sunscreens, Zinc Oxide forms a protective layer that helps shield the skin from ultraviolet radiation.
Zinc is valuable for oily, congested, reactive or environmentally stressed skin, yet its benefits are not restricted to one skin type. It completes our list because it embodies what Derma Energy values most: protection, balance, versatility and function.
Best known for: Mineral sun protection, balancing and supporting calm, resilient skin.
Ten actives.
One complete philosophy.
No single ingredient can provide everything skin needs.
Retinol may renew, but the skin still requires hydration. AHAs may refine texture, but the barrier must remain supported. Vitamin C can help defend against oxidative stress, while Niacinamide, Peptides and Zinc contribute balance and resilience. Rumex targets uneven tone. Tazman Pepper Berry helps calm visible reactivity. Hyaluronic Acid replenishes water. ATP connects everything back to the energy required for cellular activity.
Renew. Balance. Defend. Hydrate.
The future of skincare is not about endlessly chasing the newest ingredient or using the strongest formula available. It is about understanding what each active contributes and combining them with intelligence, balance and purpose.
From ATP to Zinc, every ingredient has a job to do. When the right actives work together, skin does not need to be forced into changing. It is given the support it needs to thrive.
